The inhabitants are called Étréaupontois .

Étréaupont is located about 45 kilometers east-northeast of Saint-Quentin on the Tonin of the Thiérache landscape . Étréaupont is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Froidestrées and Gergny in the north, Luzoir and Effry in the north and northeast, Ohis in the east and northeast, La Bouteille in the east and southeast, Fontaine-lès-Vervins in the south, Laigny in the southwest and Sorbais in the west.

The National Route 2 runs through the municipality .
