Grand-Verly is a French municipality with 138 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France (before 2016 Picardy ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Vervins , the canton of Guise (until 2015 Wassigny ) and the municipal association Thiérache Sambre et Oise .

history

The parish was created on January 6, 1896 by dividing the parish Verly into Grand-Verly and Petit-Verly . The naming is misleading insofar as Grand-Verly is smaller than its sister parish Petit-Verly in terms of its area and population.

geography

The community is located on the Sambre-Oise Canal . Grand-Verly is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Petit-Verly in the west, Tupigny in the north, Lesquielles-Saint-Germain in the east and Vadencourt in the south.
