Helena Zboińska-Ruszkowska (born April 23, 1877 in Lemberg , Austria-Hungary , † November 4, 1948 in Krakow , Poland ) was a Polish singer and vocal teacher.

Zboińska-Ruszkowska was the daughter of the actor and director Marceli Zboiński , her mother was a sister of the actor Władysław Woleński . She began her vocal training with Walery Wysocki and perfected it almost throughout her career in Poland (among others with Stefan Wołoszko in Warsaw) and with singing teachers in Vienna, Milan and Madrid.

She made her debut in concerts in 1899 and as an opera singer in 1900 at the Teatr Miejski in Lemberg. In addition to roles as Senta in The Flying Dutchman and Elsa in Lohengrin by Richard Wagner , she had her greatest success here as Ulana in Ignacy Jan Paderewski's opera Manru . From 1903 she was engaged in various lyrical and dramatic leading roles (including Sieglinde in Die Walküre , Elsa in Tannhäuser , Valentine in Les Huguenots ) at the houses of the Warszawskie Teatry Rządowe . After concert appearances in Vienna in 1904, she signed a contract with the Vienna Court Opera in 1906 .

She made her debut at the Teatro alla Scala in 1907 as Isabella Iguamota in Alberto Franchetti's opera Cristoforo Colombo , and in the following year she sang both the roles of Margherita and Elèna in Arrigo Boito's Mefistofele . In the next few years he performed at opera houses in Italy (Palermo, Milan, Trieste, Ravenna, Turin, Verona, Padua, Bologna, Florence), Spain (Madrid, Barcelona) and South America (Buenos Aires, Montevideo), from 1914 to 1916 she was also engaged at the Vienna Court Opera.

In 1919 she returned to Warsaw and until the end of her career at Teatr Wielki she held the position of “dramatic prima donna” (including Leonore in Fidelio , Brünnhilde in Die Walküre , Aida , Isolde in Tristan and Isolde and Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier ) .

In 1928 Zboińska-Ruszkowska ended her stage career. After teaching at a private music school in Warsaw since 1919, she became a teacher at the Krakow Conservatory in 1928 and ran her own private music school from 1937-38. After the war she taught again at the Krakow Conservatory. Among her students were Ewa Bandrowska-Turska , Ada Sari and Wanda Wermińska . Her son Wojciech Ruszkowski became known as an actor.
