Ada Sari , actually Jadwiga Schayer , also Jadwiga Szayer (born June 29, 1886 in Wadowice , Galicia , † July 12, 1968 in Ciechocinek , Poland ), was a Polish opera singer (soprano).
Life
Ada Sari studied at the Warsaw Music Institute (now the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music ), and after making a glamorous debut appearance in Rome in 1909 , the soprano began her career at the world's most important opera houses at the beginning of the 20th century. She was u. a. engaged at La Scala in Milan.
Her repertoire included Richard Wagner , Giuseppe Verdi and Charles Gounod .
Between 1929 and 1965 she stayed regularly in Marienbad .
In her honor, the International Ada Sari Competition of Vocal Art is taking place in Nowy Sącz .
