The Poor Clares founded many new villages in the area and owned 28 villages in later centuries. In 1298 the new town of Nowy Sącz ( New Sandez ) was founded downstream on the Dunajec River.

The villages belonging to the Poor Clares were nationalized. In the course of Josephine colonization in German colonists were settled often, for example, was at the bottom of Vorwerk of the Poor Clares in the city in 1784 a German colony Neudorfel founded.
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Stary Sącz came to Poland. This was interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II , during which it belonged to the Generalgouvernement .
