history
In 1276 the village of Gołkowice (today's Gołkowice Górne ) was transferred to German law by Kinga of Poland . It originally belonged to the Poor Clares in Stary Sącz . In the years 1470–1480 the village Gołkowycze had a farm and an inn.
Habsburg troops occupied the village as early as 1770 and it was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary . After the First Partition of Poland , Gołkowice became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).
In 1783, in the course of the Josephine colonization, German colonists of various denominations were settled. By 1820, 37 German families had settled. The village was divided into two parts: Gołkowice Polskie / Polish Golkowitz (today's Gołkowice Górne ) and Gołkowice Niemieckie / Deutsch Golkowitz (today's Gołkowice Dolne ). The Protestants belonged to the community in Stadła . By the end of the 19th century, the descendants of the colonists were partly Polonized. In 1900 the village had 297 inhabitants in 36 houses, 152 of them German-speaking, 145 Polish-speaking, 136 Roman Catholic, 8 Jews and 153 other beliefs (mostly Protestant).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Gołkowice Dolne became part of Poland. This was interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II , during which it belonged to the Generalgouvernement . In the summer of 1944 the remaining Germans were evacuated.
From 1975 to 1998 Gołkowice Dolne was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .
