Moszczenica Niżna (formerly also Moszczanica Niższa ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality of Stary Sącz in the powiat Nowosądecki of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship , Poland .

The place lies on the brook Moszczenica under the Beskid Beskids ( Beskid Sądecki ).
The neighboring towns are the city of Stary Sącz in the north, Barcice Dolne in the east, Moszczenica Wyżna in the south, Gołkowice Górne in the west, Mostki in the north-west.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1276. He originally belonged to the Poor Clares in Stary Sącz. The local parish was first mentioned in 1325 and was dissolved in 1573.
Habsburg troops occupied the village as early as 1770 and it was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary . After the first partition of Poland , Barcice became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).
In 1788, in the course of the Josephine colonization, German colonists of Catholic and Lutheran denominations were settled. This settlement was quite small and it is now just a hamlet called Morawina (dt. Morau ). By the end of the 19th century, the descendants of the colonists were completely Polonized. In 1900 the village had 583 inhabitants, all of them Polish-speaking and Roman Catholic.
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Moszczenica Niżna came to Poland. This was interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II , during which it belonged to the Generalgouvernement .
From 1975 to 1998 Moszczenica Niżna was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .
