Jacques François de Chastenet de Puységur (born August 13, 1656 in Paris , died August 15, 1743 ) was a French military man. He was the grandfather of Armand Marie Jacques de Chastenet de Puységur .

The Marquis de Puységur took part in numerous wars and battles (in Flanders, Germany and Spain) without ever commanding a higher command. During the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1713) he was entrusted with the organization of the Spanish armed forces. In 1734 he became Marshal of France . In his work Art de la Guerre (1748) he shows the state of the art of war during his time. His principles and rules of the art of war were published by his son in France. The work was translated into German by Georg Rudolph Fäsch (1710–1787).
