The Route nationale 7 A , or N 7 A or RN 7 A for short , was a French national road .

The road was established in 1860 between Nice and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin (then the place name only Roquebrune; junction was at Cap-Martin) when the county of Nice became part of France and the national road network was extended to this area. It led along the lower coastal road ( Basse Corniche ), while the N 7 used the upper coastal road ( Grande Corniche ), and had a length of 22 kilometers. Due to its course close to the coast, it crossed Monaco on a 4 km long route . In 1933 it was rededicated as National Road 559 and became part of National Road 98 in 1978 . The graduation took place in 2006. Within Villefranche-sur-Mer it had two side branches without number that linked the two ports. These side branches were upgraded to the N 559 D and N 559 E in 1933 . Both have been graduated and communal roads since 1973.
