geography
Castellane is located about 80 kilometers northwest of Cannes in the mountains of High Provence on the Route Napoléon at 731 m above sea level. NN . The village is located on the Verdon River , at the beginning of the Verdon Gorge . Castellane is dominated by the 1626 m high mountain Cadières de Brandis to the west of the town . The municipality is part of the Verdon Regional Nature Park . About 2 km to the northeast is the Lac de Castillon reservoir .
