Allons is a French municipality with 143 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It belongs to the arrondissement of Castellane and the canton of Castellane and is a member of the Alpes Provence Verdon municipal association .
geography
The municipality is located in the French Maritime Alps around 60 kilometers northwest of Nice and 30 kilometers southeast of Digne-les-Bains in the Verdon Regional Nature Park . Neighboring municipalities are Thorame-Haute in the north, Méailles in the northeast, Le Fugeret in the east, Annot in the southeast, Vergons in the south, Angles in the southwest, Saint-André-les-Alpes in the west and La Mure-Argens in the northwest.
Allons is a classic mountain community that is surrounded by mountain ranges at the municipal boundary , all of which culminate at the head of the valley to the Pic de Chamatte ( 1879 m ). The valley is drained by the Ivoire river with its source streams, which flows into the Verdon at the northwestern municipal boundary . The municipality includes the hamlets of Vauclause , La Moutière , La Forêt and the municipal capital Allons .
Transport links
The community is away from national transport links. The closest thoroughfare is the department road D9 55 in Verdontal, of which branches the D 52 and the valley of Allon traffic-supplied. The Chemins de fer de Provence narrow-gauge railway , which runs from Nice to Digne-les-Bains and has the Allons-Argens stop near the hamlet of Vauclause, also runs in the Verdon Valley .
