Beizhai tombs

The Beizhai Tombs ( Chinese  北寨墓群 , Pinyin Beizhai Muqun , English Beizhai Tombs ) from the time the late Eastern Han Dynasty located in the village Beizhai , greater community Jiehu , District Yinan , prefecture-level city of Linyi , Province of Shandong , People's Republic of China . They were discovered in 1954.

42 stone reliefs were found in the graves. The stone reliefs of grave no. 1, for example, show scenes of war, sacrificial scenes, processions as well as music and dance scenes. The picture called Yuewu baixi tu 乐舞 百 戏 图 , for example, provides deep insights into the history of Chinese acrobatics .

The graves have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (5-169) since 2001 .

A museum was built at the site, the so-called Yinan Han Tombs Museum (Yinan Hanmu bowuguan), which is also called the Beizhai Han Tombs Museum (Beizhai Hanmu bowuguan).

Name variants

The finds are treated under different names in the Chinese literature, including Yinan mu huaxiangshi, Beizhai muqun, Yinan Hanmu, Yinan huaxiangshi mu, etc.
