The Autoroute A5 is a 238 km long motorway between the Francilienne Paris ring road and the Langres plateau . It was built from 1990 to reduce traffic jams on the A 6 and to relieve them.

The motorway is tolled and operated by Autoroutes Paris-Rhin-Rhône (APRR) .

The following European roads run along this motorway: E 54 , E 17 and E 511 . Before construction began on the A 5, the section between Troyes and Langres belonged to the A 26 .

history

  • 1983: Commissioning of the section from the Beauchemin exit to Semoutiers, as part of the then A 26
  • 1990: Commissioning of the Troyes- Semoutiers section (77 km, also under the name A 26)
  • 1993: Commissioning of the Melun - Sens section with a length of 58 km
  • 1993: Commissioning of the five-kilometer section between the motorway junction at Sens (A 5 and A 19 ) and the N 6 (national road 6), (future A 19, then part of the A 5)
  • 1994: Commissioning of the Sens-Troyes section (67 km)
  • 1994: Commissioning of the 16 km long connection to the north to Francilienne (A 5b, in future A 105 )
  • 1995: Commissioning of the nine-kilometer connection to the west to Francilienne (A 5a)

The designations A 5a and A 5b are still used today.

Project

The government gave the green light for a continuation of the A5 from Langres to Mulhouse . This route is currently planned as the A 319 . The new toll station in Vesoul (opening in 2018) will cover part of the costs , the rest of the section will be paid for by the French state. It will be built as a four-lane motorway along the N 19 to the A 36 between Belfort and Montbéliard.
