The Autoroute A 39 (abbreviation: A 39 ), also known as Autoroute verte (German: The green motorway ), is a French motorway that connects Dijon to Bourg-en-Bresse via Dole . Its entire length is not part of a European route and, when extended to the north via the A 31 and A 5, and to the south via the A 40 and A 42, it is part of an eastern motorway connection between Paris and Lyon that runs parallel to the A 6 . It has a total length of 145 km.

The motorway is particularly important as a section of the direct connection from Strasbourg via Dole to Lyon or Paris (via A 5).

course

The Route A 39 leads since 1998 consistently in predominantly southern direction of Dijon about Dole Viriat where they in of Macon about Geneva to the Mont Blanc tunnel extending Route of titanium / Route Blanche passes (A 40). It is free of charge from its start on the D905 department road in Dijon to the tollbooth (French: péage ) at Crimolois . There it also meets the A 31 Nancy - Lyon, which runs in north-south direction .

At Dole, the A 39 crosses the A 36 known as La Comtoise , which runs in a west-east direction between Beaune and Besançon . This motorway junction is of particular interest when coming from Besançon, as the road signs lead traffic in the direction of Lyon to relieve the A 6 via the A 39. Furthermore, there is the possibility for drivers in the direction of Paris via the A 39 to bypass the busy direct connection Lyon - Paris (A 6). This is signposted accordingly as Paris (via A 5) .

In Viriat, the A 39 in the main direction of travel, contrary to the numbering suggests, merges directly with the A 40. The same applies to the A 40 in the opposite direction, which becomes the A 39 there ( TOTSO ).
