The Autoroute A 65 , also known as Autoroute de Gascogne called, is a French motorway, which was licensed in 2007 by the government. Construction began in 2008 and the entire motorway was opened on December 16, 2010. The motorway starts in Langon and ends in Pau . The originally planned extension between Pau and Oloron has been abandoned. The motorway has a total length of 150 km.
Project implementation
The A 65 motorway was fully financed by the concessionaire without resorting to public funds. The cost has now been estimated at EUR 1.2 billion. The construction project covers a total area of 1490 hectares and includes 160 engineering structures, 15 of which are viaducts.
The project was controversial because of its environmental impact. In Béarn be cut had mountains and in the Landes department wetlands to be crossed where protected species such as mink or clawed crayfish .
