Langon is a French town with 7375 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The city is the seat of the sub-prefecture ( French Sous- prefecture ) of the Langon arrondissement and belongs to the canton of Le Sud-Gironde .
Langon is located on the Garonne , just under 50 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux .
traffic
Langon lies on the Bordeaux – Sète railway line , which crosses the Garonne here on the Langon railway bridge.
The place is important as a river port because the special goods ship Breuil transports parts of the A380 to / from Toulouse there.
From the river bank at the Place de la Liberation at the Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais de Langon church , a river pillar can still be seen in the Garonne, which originally served a suspension bridge built by Ferdinand Arnodin , which was later replaced by a lattice girder bridge.
