Savignac ( Occitan Savinhac ) is a French municipality with 633 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Langon and the canton of Le Réolais et Les Bastides . The inhabitants are called Savignacais .

history

The municipality of Savignac was created in 1851 by splitting off from the municipality of Aillas .

geography

Savignac is about 61 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux . Savignac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Castets et Castillon in the north, Pondaurat in the east and northeast, Aillas in the south and east, Berthez in the south and southwest, Auros in the west and southwest, Brannens in the west and Bieujac in the northwest.

The municipality is located on Via Lemovicensis , a variant of the Camino de Santiago .
