Puybarban ( Occitan Pugbarban ) is a French municipality with 423 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Langon and the canton of Le Réolais et Les Bastides . The inhabitants are called Puybarbanais .
history
In 1837 traces of a Gallo-Roman settlement were discovered.
geography
Puybarban is located about 59 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux on the Canal latéral à la Garonne . Puybarban is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Floudès in the north, Blaignac in the east, Aillas in the south and south-east, Pondaurat in the west and south-west and Basanne in the west and north-west.
Puybarban is on Via Lemovicensis , a variant of the Camino de Santiago .
