Fargues is a French commune with 1,652 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine around 40 kilometers south-east of Bordeaux lies.

Fargues is known for its excellent noble sweet white wines and belongs to the Sauternes growing region in Bordeaux . The small river Ciron flows through the cultivation area, the cold spring water of which flows into the warmer waters of the Garonne and forms fog in autumn , which offers the best opportunities for the noble rot fungus Botrytis cinerea to increase the sugar content of the grapes .
