Meier, the company expanded into an international group over the next three decades. This period was mainly through acquisitions marked on an ongoing basis in the adolescent group integrated were.

The first company takeover and thus the entry into air conditioning technology took place in 1975 through the acquisition of Defensor , a pioneering company at the time and market leader in air humidification . With the establishment of WMH Walter Meier Holding AG in 1976, the group of companies developed a holding structure . In 1977 the company entered heating technology by taking over the Oertli company, including foreign subsidiaries.

In 1981, the company strengthened its position in air humidification by taking over Condair and North American Nortec . With the acquisition of the Procalor company in 1982 , WMH expanded the heating technology sector and entered the heating wholesale business . In 1985 it opened to the public and went public . The company now had 1,506 employees and achieved annual sales of CHF 265 million. In 1988 WMH expanded its activities in North America by acquiring Jet , which subsequently became an industry leader in the fields of wood / metalworking machinery and lifting tools.

In 1990, the acquisition was the company Vestol that with PROCALOR for specialized systems for heat generation and heat distribution Vescal was merged. In 1991 WMH took over the then leading German company for air humidification, Barth + Stöcklein . With the takeover of Climatechnique Kobra in 1994 , WMH further expanded the air conditioning sector in Switzerland. In 1995 the previously acquired companies Defensor , Condair , Barth + Stöcklein , Kobra and others were merged into the newly founded subsidiary, Axair , which specializes in air humidification .

Several acquisitions followed in 2001 and 2002: Draabe Industrietechnik , which is active in industrial humidification , in Germany , Mato , which sells CNC machine tools in Switzerland, Wilton, which sells metalworking machines and tools in the USA, and Climate Equipment, which sells climate change in Great Britain .

When Silvan G.-R. Meier as CEO, the management of the company passed to the third generation. In 2007 the group realigned itself and has since focused on the two core areas of air conditioning and manufacturing. Various holdings that were not part of the core business were sold and the previous company name WMH Walter Meier Holding AG was changed to Walter Meier AG . In 2007, AxAir, Oertli and Vescal were merged into Walter Meier (Klima Schweiz) AG. With the takeover of TK 3000 AG in 2009 Walter Meier expanded the range of services, today Meier Tobler Lüftungshygiene AG. With the integration of Friap Feuron in 2014, Walter Meier strengthened its expertise in storage and water heaters. The manufacturing technology division was sold to the former managing director Jochen Nutz on December 11, 2015.

The commissioning of the central and highly automated service center in Nebikon changed the warehouse and distribution logistics in 2017.
