It belongs to the arrondissement of Langon and to the cantons of Le Sud-Gironde (locality Castets-en-Dorthe) and Le Réolais et Les Bastides (locality Castillon-de-Castets).
On January 1, 2017, Castets et Castillon was formed as the Commune nouvelle from the municipalities of Castets-en-Dorthe and Castillon-de-Castets . The administrative headquarters are in Castets-en-Dorthe.

Castets et Castillon is located about 45 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux on the Garonne and on the Canal latéral à la Garonne , which flows into the river here. Castets et Castillon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Martin-de-Sescas in the north and north-west, Caudrot in the north, Barie in the north and north-east, Bassanne in the east, Pondaurat in the east and south-east, Savignac in the south, Bieujac in the south and south-west, Saint-Loubert and Saint-Pardon-de-Conques to the west and Saint-Pierre-d'Aurillac to the northwest.
