history

Beaurepaire belonged in the 13th century and possibly earlier to the gentlemen de Vienne and d'Antigny , who issued the residents a charter in 1275 . The rule later passed to the Beaurepaire family , one of the oldest in the area. Since the 13th century there was a fortress in Beaurepaire-en-Bresse, in 1429 Thibaut de Belrepaire received permission to build a tower of any height and trenches at his discretion . The tower , a square building, dates back to the 15th century, the other parts of the building are more recent. The castle is still owned by descendants of the de Beaurepaire family .

To the west of the castle is a chapel with plaster decorations and wood carvings, it was a village church from 1849 to 1855. An older church was in the hamlet of Collots , where an oratory is still located today . In the middle of the 19th century, the Count of Beaurepaire made land available so that a new church could be built. It is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary.
