Toponymy

The place is first mentioned in the 13th century as Curatus de Dygona , while the Ecclesia de Diycona is mentioned as early as 1362 . One theory about the origin of the name is as follows: In the Bressan dialect, the Étangs are called cônes . Since there were ten (French dix ) in the catchment area of the Florence and around the settlement , the place name Diconne could have originated from dix cônes .

A significantly older name in the municipality concerns the hamlet of Reversey , which appears as early as 1190 in connection with a Hugo de Reversure .

history

The Diconne estate belonged to the Mervans barony , along with Devrouze, and was owned by different families. At the beginning of the 16th century it belonged to Léonarde de Beaumont , who married Jean Bataille in 1530 . Later it came to Hugues de Mâlain , then to Jeanne de Mâlain , whom she bequeathed to her nephew Jérôme de Biollet in 1579 . As a result, the Fyot took over rule in 1660. After further changes of ownership within the family, Claude Fyot , Count of Bosjean , became the owner. He was the first President of the Parlement of Burgundy, and in 1736 his property was elevated to a marquisate in his favor . The castle existed near the church in the hamlet of Motte , of which only ruins remained in 1743. In 1804 the rule was divided into Diconne and Devrouze . In 1849 a farmer discovered a pot with around 500 Roman coins from the 3rd century in a field, a large number of them from the time of Gordian and Philip the Arab . The church ( consecrated to Saint Peter ) was rebuilt in 1851/1852 in the style of the 12th century. The Mairie was originally the boys' school, dated from 1864 and expanded in 1906. In 1898 the girls' school was built, which today serves as a schoolhouse. There was also a windmill and a water mill in the community. In 1988 there were still 34 farms.

heraldry

The municipality of Diconne uses a coat of arms that was created more recently and is intended to reflect the specifics of the municipality. The shield shows a wave cut, in field 1 there are two bulrushes with a flying duck in their head on a blue background. This may symbolize the large number of étangs, thanks to the cattails also indicate their silting up. Field 2 indicates the forest cover, not least the oak forests, while the shield foot shows a Bressan farmhouse typical of the community.
