Toponymy

The place appears for the first time around 1225 as Capella Audan , it is conceivable that this church was consecrated to Audoenus . By According insert resulted in the 14th century Capella Nauda , which ultimately led to today's place names.

history

The old Roman road Louhans-Romenay ran east of today's settlement. The first church existed as early as the 13th century, the choir and the octagonal bell tower made of bricks probably go back to this first building. The church was rebuilt in the 14th and 15th centuries, renewals and additions were made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The church was closed to the public from 2003 to 2012 due to structural damage caused by the drought in 2003. The church is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. Promby belonged to the dominion of Sainte-Croix , Corgeat to Montpont and other parts to Chardenoux . In 1856 there were still three mills, in 1988 there were still 33 farms.
