Saillenard is a French commune in the department of Saone-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Louhans and the canton of Pierre-de-Bresse . The place has 785 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), they are Saillenardais , resp. Called Saillenardaises .
geography
The municipality is located in the Bresse countryside , almost halfway up the Arrondissement Louhans on its eastern border, and meets three municipalities in the Jura department to the east . Le Teuil crosses the municipality from south to north , it takes up the Bief de l'Étang de Coran , which rises in the southeast of the municipality and in the north the Bief du Renouillier , which flows along the northern border. The eastern boundary of the municipality is the Ruisseau le Jeanbon , while the Ruisseau la Boissine briefly touches the municipality in the far west . The D87 department road runs through the municipality from northwest to southeast and connects Saint-Germain-du-Bois with Beaurepaire-en-Bresse . The community is quite heavily forested, especially in the south and west. There are several poplar plantations in the lowlands of the Teuil . Toponymy
The place is first mentioned in the year 930 as ... et in pago Scodingensi villam unam, Salvamentum nuncupatam, cum ecclesia que est in Appugniaco, in honore Sancti Petri ... (... in the Scutinger Gau a place called Salvamentum, with a church in Apuniacum, in honor of Saint Simon Peter ...). The later name Saillenard is a corruption of Saint-Léonard and appears around 1270. It was a little monastery or rather a hermitage, which was dedicated to this saint and became the place name.
history
The place is first mentioned as Appuniacum in the 10th century , at the same time as a church that was dedicated to St. Peter. The place was a branch of Saint-Vincent of Mâcon, later it was under the patronage of the monastery Château-Chalon . After the exchange between the Count of Savoy and Rudolf II. Of Burgundy he lay on the northeastern border of castellany of Sagy and was the property of De Vienne and later d'Antigny . In 1275 they issued a charter in favor of the population. The barony was later transferred to the de Beaurepaire as an after-fief . Economy and Infrastructure
In the community there is the Mairie , the church (today consecrated to Saint Leonhard ), two bakeries, a petrol station / garage and a supermarket , as well as 21 farms, four construction companies and a restaurant.
