Tronchy is located about 17 kilometers east-southeast of Chalon-sur-Saône in the natural landscape of Bresse . Tronchy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lessard-en-Bresse in the north and east, Vérissey in the south-east, Saint-Étienne-en-Bresse in the south, Saint-Christophe-en-Bresse in the west and L'Abergement-Sainte-Colombe in the north-west.
