The canton of Saint-Germain-du-Plain was 2015 a French constituency in the district of Chalon-sur-Saone in Saône-et-Loire and in the region of Burgundy ; its main town was Saint-Germain-du-Plain . Alain Doulé ( PS ) was the last representative in the General Council of the Département from 2004 to 2015 . The canton was 124.81 km² and had (1999) 7,462 inhabitants, which corresponded to a population density of 60 inhabitants per km². It was on average at 196 meters above sea ​​level , between 171 m in Ouroux-sur-Saône and 217 m in L'Abergement-Sainte-Colombe .
