Its main town is La Chapelle-de-Guinchay . Jean-François Cognard ( LR ) and Dominique Piard ( UDI ) have been representatives in the General Council of the Département since 2015 .

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of La Chapelle-de-Guinchay included the eleven municipalities of Chaintré , Chânes , Chasselas , Crêches-sur-Saône , La Chapelle-de-Guinchay , Leynes , Pruzilly , Romanèche-Thorins , and Saint -Amour-Bellevue , Saint-Symphorien-d'Ancelles and Saint-Vérand . Its layout corresponded to an area of 62.43 km 2 .
