Matour is a French commune with 1,119 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Saone-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Mâcon and belongs to the canton of La Chapelle-de-Guinchay (until 2015: canton of Matour ).

Matour is about 27 kilometers west of Mâcon . Matour is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Dompierre-les-Ormes in the north, Trambly in the east and northeast, Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux in the east and southeast, Saint-Bonnet-des-Bruyères in the south, Aigueperse in the southwest, Gibles in the west as well Montmelard in the northwest.
