Château is located about 20 kilometers northwest of Mâcon and about 40 kilometers south-southwest of Chalon-sur-Saône . Neighboring communities of Château are La Vineuse sur Fregande in the north, Cluny in the east and northeast, Jalogny in the east and southeast, Mazille in the south, Bergesserin in the southwest and Buffières in the west.
