Fleurville is a French municipality with 519 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Saone-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

The place is on the right bank of the Saône , about 17 kilometers north of Mâcon . Opposite Fleurville, the Reyssouze River flows into the Saône. The Canal de Pont-de-Vaux , which is sealed off from the Saône by the Fleurville lock , also begins just above . This canal is only three kilometers long and is now only used for tourist purposes. Fleurville lies within the defined boundaries of the Burgundy wine-growing region . Defined areas are approved for the production of wines under the Bourgogne Designation of Origin .

history

Around 1900 Fleurville was also a railway junction: one railway line ran from Mâcon via Lugny to Fleurville, and another ran from Fleurville to Pont-de-Vaux . All these railway lines are no longer in operation today.
