The Fujifilm Fuji GX680 is an analog, single-lens reflex - medium format camera with interchangeable magazines and interchangeable lenses . It uses the image format 6x8cm on roll film of the types 120 and 220 . A special feature is the mounting of the lenses on a standard , which is connected to the actual camera housing via rails and bellows . Otherwise, this was only found in view cameras , the Mamiya RB67 and RZ67 and the Rolleiflex SL 66.

In contrast to most medium-format cameras from other manufacturers, the standard can also be shifted to the right, left, up and down for perspective correction and swiveled around the horizontal and vertical axis of the lens carrier to control the depth of field according to Scheimpflug . The Fuji GX680 had the optical capabilities similar to a large format camera , which also enabled it to be used in architectural photography. The Fuji GX680 had impressive dimensions for a medium format camera, but it was much more compact compared to large format studio cameras.

The Fuji GX 680 was manufactured in three model variants (production period in brackets):

  • Fuji GX 680 (1989-1995)
  • Fuji GX 680 II (1995-1998)
  • Fuji GX 680 III (1998-2007)

Externally, the three models differ only in minor modifications to the display and control elements and in terms of battery or battery operation.

There was also a simplified version of the III model, the GX 680 III S, without the option of adjusting the standard according to Scheimpflug in terms of perspective correction and depth of field.

There were around 18 interchangeable lenses , several viewfinders and focusing screens , film magazines (including for Polaroid films), various bellows for mounting between the housing and the front standard, and a rail extension for close-ups.

1 The GXM lenses were introduced with the GX680III. These have an electronic image acquisition counter integrated in the lens and enable the GX680 III, together with the film holder III, to display the number for the magazine and the camera as well as for the lens, in order to be able to make statements about upcoming maintenance. GXM lenses can also be used on the GX 680 and GX 680 II models, but without being able to display the meter reading.

2 number for lens only with GXM lens and film holder III.

3 120 and 220 films require different film holders for models I and II; from model III onwards, they are implemented using different film carriers in the film holder.

4 only visible with 6x8 and 6x7 focusing screens (for model III).

5 requires a corresponding format mask for film holder III, adjustment of the viewfinder by means of a suitable focusing screen with printed format frame, mask change not possible within a film.

6 the effective mobility of the 50 mm lens, 100–200 mm zoom lens as well as a combination of different movements with all other lenses can be restricted compared to the maximum specifications; The GX 680 III S does not have any lens shift or rotation.

7 also enables connection of the Fujifilm DBP digital back.

8 OTF (Off The Film): During the exposure process, a Si diode in the camera housing measures the light reflected from the film in a central 25mm circle, display of over / under or correct exposure after the exposure, no flash control possible.

10 housing with lens 135mm / 1: 5.6 and film holder, without batteries.

11 only housing, without batteries.
