The municipality is located in the Beaujolais wine-growing region west of the Autoroute A 6 ( Autoroute du Soleil ) and the Saône , almost exactly between Belleville and Crêches-sur-Saône at an altitude of between 168 and 262 m. She is the namesake for the cru location Moulin à Vent .

Viticulture

Part of the 670 hectares of cultivation area of the Crus Moulin à Vent belongs to the municipality , which are located at heights between 250 and 280 m on light red sandstone soils above manganese-rich granite. Almost exclusively the Gamay grape is grown, the official name is actually Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc (translated: Black Gamay with white juice). For many years, winemakers have followed an old tradition by bringing an extensive sample of their product to the baptismal fonts in their churches in October of the following year.

Attractions

  • L'Hameau de Vin: a special kind of wine museum. Everything that plays a role in wine production is shown, including a vineyard, the "Clos de la Gare". The museum is an insider tip among Americans because there, in the tasting room, which is more of a tasting room, an original orchestrion has been set up and plays contemporary melodies. This also includes ...
  • La Gare: the restored train station with a historic wine train.
  • Musée Guillon: a former drawing school for journeyman carpenters. Her technical art of drawing was known far beyond France's borders. The masterful drawings can be viewed.
