Canton of Cuisery from 2015
In 2015 (March 22 and 29), the departmental councils were elected for the first time using a new electoral process. In advance, the number of cantons was halved, but the candidacies were always made in pairs with a woman and a man. At the same time, the cantons were determined from a demographic point of view, in that the difference in the population figures of the cantons within the department could not be more than 20%. The cantonal territory must be contiguous and municipalities with up to 3,500 inhabitants were not allowed to be divided between several cantons.
As part of this restructuring, the ten municipalities of the canton of Cuisery were converted to the canton of Cuiseaux and the canton no longer exists since March 29, 2015.
