The Canton Cuiseaux is a French administrative unit in the Arrondissement Louhans , in the department of Saone-et-Loire and the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . Its main town is Cuiseaux .

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Cuiseaux included the nine municipalities of Champagnat , Condal , Cuiseaux , Dommartin-lès-Cuiseaux , Flacey-en-Bresse , Frontenaud , Joudes , Le Miroir and Varennes-Saint-Sauveur . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​158.44 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 7115.

Education and first choice

In 2015 (March 22 and 29), the departmental councils were elected for the first time using a new election procedure. In advance, the number of cantons was halved, but the candidacies were always made in pairs with a woman and a man. At the same time, the cantons were determined according to demographic criteria, in that the difference in the population figures of the cantons within the department must not be more than 20%. The canton area must be contiguous and municipalities with up to 3,500 inhabitants may not be divided between several cantons.

To the original canton of Cuiseaux with its 9 communes, the 10 communes of the canton of Cuisery , 5 communes of the canton of Montpont-en-Bresse , two communes each of the cantons Montret and Tournus were defeated. The canton is still called Kanton Cuiseaux and the capital also remains Cuiseaux . A special feature is that the two communities Ratenelle and Romenay belong to the canton of Cuiseaux, but are in the arrondissement of Mâcon .

On the occasion of the March 2015 elections, the following were elected:

climate

Precipitation Arrondissement Louhans

The climate in the canton of Cuiseaux is warm and temperate. There is significant rainfall throughout the year, even the driest month still has high rainfall. The Köppen-Geiger climate classification is Cfb .

The annual average temperature is 11.0 ° C and the rainfall adds up to 816 millimeters. The lowest annual average temperatures, at 10.6 ° C, are found in the municipalities whose territory extends into the Jura heights, namely Champagnat and Cuiseaux . Naturally, they also have the highest amounts of precipitation of 884 millimeters each. In contrast, the municipalities with the highest average temperature have an average of 11.1 ° C, they are located in the west of the canton and along its southern border. The least rain falls in Cuisery, at 785 millimeters per year. While the average temperatures are only 0.5 ° C apart, the difference in rainfall is 100 millimeters or 100 liters per year.
