The Cercanceaux (Sacra cella) monastery is a former Cistercian monk abbey in the commune of Souppes-sur-Loing in the Seine-et-Marne department of the Île-de-France region ( France ). It is located around 16 kilometers southwest of Nemours in the Loing Valley .
history
The monastery, founded in 1181 by the Marshal of France Henri Clément and confirmed by King Philip Augustus of France, was a subsidiary of the La Cour-Dieu monastery from the filiation of the Cîteaux monastery . It fell in 1514 in the coming period . During the French Revolution , the monastery was dissolved and then largely demolished. A paper factory had existed since 1794, which was not stopped until 1926 and moved a few hundred meters. Today there is a gastronomic business in the abbey. The complex has been classified as a Monument historique since 1926 .
Buildings and plant
The tithe barn, the monk's building, the medieval abbot's chapel, the fish pond, the wine press, the park and the garden have been preserved.
