Railway Næstved – Præstø – Mern to Mern
Route - straight ahead
Ringsted – Rødby Færge railway line to Nykøbing Falster

Militærsporet Næstved was called a 1.679 km long connecting line, which was built in 1892 with the Slagelse – Næstved railway line . It established a connection between this and the Roskilde – Næstved ( Køgebanen, Lille Syd ) railway . Using this connection, the trains could run between two lines, without these in the former railhead Næstved had to change their direction.

history

The route was built with steel rails with a length of 22.5 m. These were delivered by Sociéte Cockerill in Seraing with "a guarantee for five years, starting from October 9, 1890".

With the construction of the Sjællandske Midtbane by Ringsted in 1924, it was introduced between the two existing lines in Næstved station. The Militærsporet was not removed, but a crossing switch without continuous track sections was installed. These track sections could have been inserted very quickly if necessary. In this case, in which the line should have been used, the double-track line from Ringsted would have had to be closed due to the inserted connection between Køgebanen and Slagelsebanen in order to give priority to the military railway. The track sections were kept in Næstved station.

A telephone connection to Næstved station was set up at the point where the track sections were to be used. There was no further expansion with safety equipment, since the Militærsporet was shut down in 1925.

Remnants of the railway line

Remnants of the railway embankment can still be found from a dirt road near Østre Ringve, north of the Køgebane railway bridge. An accessible short section of the dam is located east of the Herlufsholm swimming pool. From there, the Fodsporet path leads , which was laid out on the level of the Slagelse – Næstved railway line.
