Georges Frédéric Petitpierre
Georges Frédéric Petitpierre (born October 21, 1791 in Neuchâtel , † September 14, 1883 in Saint Aubin ) was a diplomat in the Prussian service and a Swiss politician .
biography
After attending school in Neuchâtel and finally in Zurich in 1809 , Georges Frédéric Petitpierre studied law at the University of Heidelberg . In 1811 he became a member of the Corps Helvetia Heidelberg.
After completing his studies, he joined the diplomatic service of the Kingdom of Prussia , where he worked as secretary and legation councilor in Turin , Madrid and The Hague . After retiring from the Prussian service in 1832, he became State Councilor for the Interior of the Principality of Neuchâtel and was a member of the Corps législatif from 1832 to 1848 . After the failure of the uprising of the royalists in Neuchâtel in 1856, of which he had been a leader, he withdrew into private life and wrote the memoirs quoted below.
When he left the Prussian civil service in 1832, he received the title of Count von Wesdehlen from the Prussian king .

Georges Frédéric Petitpierre had two sons, Count Ludwig Friedrich von Wesdehlen (married to Augusta Alexandrine de Pourtales), July 29, 1833 - April 19, 1904, and Count Hermann von Wesdehlen (married to Cäcilia Elisabeth de Pourtales, Augusta's sister), 14. March 1837 - July 25, 1899.
