Old Lognes Town Hall

Lognes is a French municipality with 14,000 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Seine-et-Marne in the region Ile-de-France . It belongs to the canton of Champs-sur-Marne . The inhabitants are called lognots . With a population of over 40% of immigrants from Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, the city is also known as the largest Asian city in France. Lognes belongs to the Ville nouvelle Marne-la-Vallée .

The location of Lognes in the Paris area

Lognes is located east of Paris , about 21 kilometers from the center. The municipality belongs to the Marne-la-Vallée municipality , a Ville nouvelle east of Paris. The association of municipalities emerged on August 17, 1972 from the amalgamation of 26 communes from the departments of Seine-et-Marne , Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne and has been administered administratively in four sections since March 24, 1987. Lognes belongs to the Val Maubuée section . Champs-sur-Marne , Torcy , Émerainville , Noisiel and Croissy-Beaubourg also belong to this association .

Lognes is bounded in the north-west by Noisiel, in the north-east by Torcy, in the south-east lies Croissy-Beaubourg and in the south-west Émereainville.

In the northwest of the municipality are the Maubuée lakes.

Population development

In 1975 the place had 248 inhabitants. The boom came in the 1980s and the city grew to (1982) 1707 inhabitants. At the beginning of the 1990s there were already 12,973 inhabitants (1990). Since the late 1990s, the number has leveled off at over 14,000 inhabitants (1999: 14,215, 2006: 14,614, 2011: 14,410).

Lognes can be reached from Paris on line A of the RER . The A4 and part of the Francilienne run through the municipality . In the southwest of the municipality is part of the Aérodrome Lognes-Émerainville.

Community partnerships

A partnership with the Cambodian city of Kampot has existed since 2001 .
