Attractions

Couches Castle , built in the 11th century, is also called "Château de Marguerite de Bourgogne", because Margaret of Burgundy , Queen of France and wife of Louis X , is said to have retired to Couches after her adultery, to be there in complete privacy to spend their last days. This local legend is wrong, as Margaret of Burgundy was strangled at Château-Gaillard in 1315 .

Parish partnership

Couches' partner municipality is the German market town of Wallerstein in Bavaria .
