Montcenis is a French commune with a population of 2,095 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Saone-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Autun and the canton of Le Creusot-1 (until 2015: canton of Montcenis ).

geography

Montcenis is at the source of the Bourbince River . Montcenis is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Marmagne in the north and northwest, Le Creusot in the east and northeast, Torcy in the east and southeast, Les Bizots in the south, Charmoy in the west and southwest and Saint-Symphorien-de-Marmagne in the northwest.

The former Route nationale 80 (today D680) and the former Route nationale 484 (today D984) run through the municipality .
