Saint-Jean-de-Trézy is about twelve kilometers east-northeast of Le Creusot . The Dheune River limits the community in the southeast. Neighboring municipalities of Saint-Jean-de-Trézy are Couches in the north, Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune in the east, Saint-Bérain-sur-Dheune in the south and southeast, Perreuil in the south, Essertenne in the southwest and Saint-Pierre-de- Varennes to the west.

The municipality is located in the Bourgogne wine region .
