La Comelle is located in the Morvan Regional Natural Park . La Comelle is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Léger-sous-Beuvray in the north, Laizy in the east and northeast, Étang-sur-Arroux in the east and southeast, Saint-Didier-sur-Arroux in the south and Poil in the west.

The former route nationale 81 (today's D981) runs through the municipality .
