Saint-Symphorien-de-Marmagne is located about twelve kilometers south-southeast of Autun and about 40 kilometers west-northwest of Chalon-sur-Saône on the Mesvrin . Saint-Symphorien-de-Marmagne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Broye in the north, Marmagne in the east, Charmoy in the south, Uchon in the south-west, La Chapelle-sous-Uchon in the west and Mesvres in the north-west.
