Sommant is a French municipality with 211 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Saone-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Bourgogne ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Autun and the canton of Autun-1 (until 2015 Lucenay-l'Évêque ).

Sommant is about 14 kilometers north-northeast of Autun . Sommant is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cussy-en-Morvan in the north and north-west, Lucenay-l'Évêque in the east and north-east, Reclesne in the east, Tavernay in the south, La Celle-en-Morvan in the south-west and La Petite-Verrière in the west.
