Génelard is located about 55 kilometers west-northwest of Mâcon on the Bourbince and the Canal du Center . Génelard is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Perrecy-les-Forges in the north, Ciry-le-Noble in the east, Saint-Bonnet-de-Vieille-Vigne in the south-east, Palinges in the south and south-west and Oudry in the west.
