Anost is a French municipality with 730 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Saone-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Burgundy ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Autun and the canton of Autun-1 (until 2015 canton of Lucenay-l'Évêque ). The inhabitants are called Anostiens .
geography
Anost is located about 18 kilometers northwest of Autun in the Morvan massif on the Cure River . Anost is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Planchez in the north and north-west, Gien-sur-Cure in the north, Cussy-en-Morvan in the east and north-east, La Petite-Verrière in the south-east, Roussillon-en-Morvan in the south, Arleuf in the west and south-west and Lavault-de-Frétoy in the north-west.

Regular events
Every year in August the "Fête de la vielle" (hurdy-gurdy festival) takes place in Anost.
The program is dedicated to the traditional music of the Morvan and other regions. During the four days, the sounds of bagpipes, violins, diatonic accordions and hurdy-gurdy will ring out in the marquee, on stages, in bars and in the streets. For the 30th anniversary in 2007, 25,000 spectators attended the festival. The 40th "Fête de la vielle" took place from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th August 2017.
