La Grande-Verrière is a French municipality with 563 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Saone-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Burgundy ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Autun and the canton of Autun-2 (until 2015 canton of Saint-Léger-sous-Beuvray ).

La Grande-Verrière is located about 15 kilometers west-southwest of Autun , on the Méchet River , in the Morvan Regional Nature Park . La Grande-Verrière is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Roussillon-en-Morvan in the north and north-west, La Celle-en-Morvan in the north and north-east, Monthelon in the east, Laizy in the south and south-east, and Saint-Léger-sous-Beuvray in the south Southwest and Saint-Prix in the northwest.
