Bischheim , formerly Bischheim am Saum , is a French town with 17,093 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It is located in the arrondissement of Strasbourg and was the chief town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Bischheim until 2014 .

geography

The city lies on the River Ill and the Rhine-Marne Canal . Bischheim is a northern suburb of Strasbourg ; it is four kilometers to the cathedral in the center. There is a public transport connection to the tram line B .

The neighboring municipalities of Bischheim are (clockwise from the north): Hœnheim , Strasbourg , Schiltigheim and Niederhausbergen .
