history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 778 in the will of Bishop Remigius of Strasbourg as Bladbolsheim . With the division of the empire in 843 Plobsheim became part of the East Franconian Empire . In 1416 King Sigismund gave the village to Johann Zorn von Eckerich as a fief . It remained linked to the family for more than two centuries. In 1562 the Zorn family adopted the Lutheran faith and the village became Lutheran . The castle, which was built in 1590, has been owned by the municipality since 1836 and is now used as a school building. In 1684 Plobsheim became part of the Kingdom of France under Louis XIV and attempts to recatholicize were made, but with little success - the conflict between Protestants and Catholics remained formative for the history of the village and that of the region until the 20th century. 1871–1918 Plobsheim belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine , and it was occupied by Germany from 1940–1944 during the Second World War .
